Women's Pro Baseball LeagueAbout the League

The Women's Pro Baseball League (WPBL) is a professional women's baseball league that began play in 2026, marking the return of a professional women's baseball league in the United States after more than 70 years. Its inaugural four teams are the Boston Hunters, Los Angeles Queens, New York Heights and San Francisco Firebells. The teams represent their respective cities, but the inaugural season is being played at a neutral site: Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois.

The inaugural regular season runs from August through early September and consists of 30 games across the league. All four teams advance to the postseason. The No. 1 seed plays No. 4 and No. 2 plays No. 3 in best-of-three semifinal series, with the first team to win two games advancing. The semifinal winners meet in a best-of-five WPBL Championship Series, with the first team to win three games becoming WPBL Champion.

The WPBL brings together professional players from the United States and around the world and represents a new opportunity for women to play baseball professionally at the highest level. Unlike softball, WPBL is baseball — players compete using baseball rules, equipment and field structure.
